Meet Moonshot 2, a Virtual Escape room Designed for Space Exploration

Return to Home Page

Reason, a San Francisco escape room, launched a realistic space-themed virtual escape room earlier this year to further the enthusiasm around space exploration. Named after a planned lunar station, Moonshot 2: Gateway° is a virtual team-building event designed to immerse remote players in the latest in space science breakthroughs. The game is the most advanced virtual escape room in the industry today featuring a human host over video conference, an AI assistant, as well as remote-controllable props and puzzles in the real world & the digital world.

Team building event for space explorers

Moonshot 2: Gateway° is set on a modified Soyuz spacecraft with an astronaut Lola who is heading towards Mars. The ship is scheduled for a refueling stop at the Lunar station. However, following the storyline from the original virtual escape game Moonshotº, the Lunar station has been abandoned and the players need to help Lola if she were to successfully complete her journey.

As teams progress through different stages of the mission, players get a chance to bond over problem solving challenges and fine-tune their collaboration style in a remote setting. Similar to the setup of the original Moonshotº, 10 teams of up to 100 players can compete against the clock in this real-life space race.

Bringing future technology to reality

Moonshot 2: Gateway° features many space technologies that are currently critical for the next phase of space exploration. For example, the Lunar Gateway is a planned small space station in the lunar NRHO orbit. The station is expected to play a major role in NASA missions after mankind’s return to the moon in 2024. Other important technology components of the mission are In Situ Resource Utilization and orbital refueling. Players will need to undertake fuel production operations on the Lunar surface using local material and transport the fuel up to the lunar orbit in order to refuel Lola’s ship before resuming her journey to Mars.
