Your story is powerful and unique. Please introduce us to your story. What do you do and how did you get to where you are today?

My name is Margaritë Camaj, also known as Magi Camaj and MC. I am an Entertainment Attorney, who opened The Camaj & Lee Firm, with my law partner Margaret Lee. I am also a 20x Published Author, Artist, Writer, Creative, Professor, Entrepreneur, Songwriter, and more. One thing about me is that I could never be put in a box. I am multidimensional and I’ve always wanted to use all of the gifts that I possess – every single one of them.

I am Bronx grown with deeply embedded Albanian roots. Because of my upbringing and my diverse story, I often compare myself to a rare rose that grew from the cracks in the concrete. I am an Albanian woman who immigrated to the Bronx, New York, at the age of two due to my parents’ political and ethnic persecution. Being Albanian back home meant that we didn’t have freedom and that our identity was constantly being stripped away from us, even to this day. Being Albanian from the Bronx, I experienced a unique duality that many wouldn’t expect upon first glance. My mother has always been my rock, giving her all to protect those she loves. She worked numerous domestic jobs to put food on the table. My father, who was a human rights activist and a professor of international law back home, literally left everything, including his degrees in order to protect our lives. In order to know my story, you must also understand their struggle.

I got to where I am today because of many reasons. First and foremost, God gave me this internal strength that I never took for granted. The other vital reasons are that I follow my soul, am in tune with my spirit, keep a focused mind, and I don’t let anyone change my heart no matter what. Raised in the birthplace of hip-hop, everything I do ties back to words and music. Lyrics helped me pick up a pen at the age of 7, as I started painting masterpieces of emotions through words. All of my 20 published works will make you feel something different, which explains my diverse range of works of literature: poetry, plays, novels, fiction, music business books, and more. My versatile pen game does not stop here. I am also a writer for well-known publications, a music journalist, an editor, a writer of multiple songs, and am a spoken word artist. I love balancing all of the sides that comes with me, especially being creative and an attorney. It truly all ties together in the end.

Magi, I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

The challenges that I have had to overcome was that I had to block out any negative external opinions and keep going. When you have a mission, you have to follow it. You have to look straight at opposition and know that your vision is greater than all of that. Way too many people operate from fear and your purpose is greater than that. At the end of the day, you really just have to keep going. A lot of people want to put you in a box and think that you can only be great at one thing. It’s possible that they’re projecting because they haven’t found their own gifts yet. You don’t know why and you can’t focus on the why. You must see past that if you want to fulfill your purpose. Only you know your power and when you meet those who can see every aspect of your power as well, then your journey becomes even more beautiful.

Let’s talk about the work you do. You’ve been on Billboards in Times Square, your book 50 Keys To Success in The Music Business has been #1 on Amazon, and so much more. What makes you so good at what you do?

I love deeply. It may not seem like love ties into this, but it most definitely does. Love translates into everything I do. I can’t give half of myself to anything I touch and I wouldn’t want to. Authenticity also plays a huge role. Truly being yourself is often underestimated. It is so important because we all have our own set of gifts (talents). If we are in tune with ourselves, we can find those gifts and share them with the world.

I am great at balancing all of my gifts and giving them the proper water needed to grow. When it comes to writing, I am not afraid to be vulnerable. I love letting out all of my feelings on paper because it can help other people heal. I tap into my soul and just let the words pour out. Being a creative and loving words, music, and art so deeply has allowed me to understand why it is so important to protect creatives when it comes to entertainment law.

Magi, what is your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

My best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life is to really sit down and study yourself. When you study yourself and you find the love within you, then you should share your gifts with the world. The key is to be authentic and to not let anyone change you. Let people help you grow, always, but don’t let anyone change what makes you, YOU. When you’re authentic, stay focused, and have real heart, you will win at whatever it is that you set your mind to. That’s the best way to succeed.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you Magi?

To me, the word success grows in meaning every single day. Success means using all of your gifts to their fullest extent and reaching the highest form of love. There is nothing greater than being authentic and keeping a real heart throughout everything you’re meant to do in this world. Looking back and seeing how everything connects is such a fulfilling feeling. In addition to this, being able to give back to your community and those who you love is really everything.

With all 20 of your published books, your law firm The Camaj & Lee Firm, and your latest success with your book, 50 Keys To Success in The Music Business, what’s next for you?

I believe that, no matter what, I will always write. I don’t know life without writing. it’s become such an integral part of me.

My law partner, Margaret Lee, and I definitely want to do so much more to help creatives navigate their way through the music business.

Regarding all aspects of my art, I want to continue writing and I will be releasing a few versatile projects really soon.
