Introducing course instructor Barb Jones:

Barb, you have a powerful story. Why don’t you give us some details about you and introduce us to your story. How did you get to where you are today?

My name is Barb Jones,  I am an educator and entrepreneur. I love to teach and mentor individuals while they’re trying to reach goals. I’ve taken leaps of faith towards change and did not always have the support system to overcome certain challenges in life, but I wasn’t deterred. Hence, I envision being a beacon of inspiration for those seeking to improve their life and substantiating support towards their due diligence from personal efforts. I am still standing and believing in faith that I can achieve through patience and persistence.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

The biggest challenges that I’ve had to overcome is staying positive and keeping my vision alive. Thus, currently my challenge is effective marketing of the class entitled “Learn Strategies to Write Your Personal Statement.” It is geared towards helping individuals that aspire to to become a medical doctor, nurse, physician’s assistant, attend graduate school or work in the emergency room and must write a personal essay for the admissions board of the school. I am here to help with that endeavor beginning Saturday, August 14th at 4pm EST, 3pm Central time.

What makes me good at what I do is the experience, knowledge and skillset that I’ve acquired on my journey. I enjoy teaching and mentoring and have worked in various capacities within the educational system of different institutions of learning.
What makes me good at what I do to teach the class, ” Learning Strategies to Write Your Personal Statement?” I have worked within the medical career pipeline program that targets high school and college students. I have developed criteria for curriculum through the analysis of educational and instructional problems or questions, identified goals and appropriate learning objectives – researched and designed scenario-based instructor-led and eLearning activities in a Collaborative Learning Environment (CLE).

Lastly, I have developed interactive presentations/simulations utilizing blended delivery product over 10 years.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

The best advice I can give to readers who desire success in their life is have a vision, create objectives in achieving them – do mind-mapping which helps in making choices because the visuals help. Include thought-provoking questions e.g. “if this, then that.” Find yourself a mentor that is successful in the area that you aspire to excel in one day. There are ways to achieve this. Do not falter on your dream. Keep it alive and take action daily regardless of how small which will get you where you need to be while being tenacious. Finally dismiss the negativity – filter what you hear and see so as not to destroy your aspirations.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

My perspective for personal success is the achievement of results surrounding goals. I question whether the results added value and had teachable moments to do better.

What’s next for you?

What’s next for me is to continue developing programs that will benefit individuals and edify them when needed.
